Artabel Lakes

The Artabel Lakes Nature Park, located 80 km from the city center, is covered with formations due to volcanic activity prevailing in two separate geological time periods. In the first activity, Karanlık Lake is located just north of the Artabel Stream source and northeast of the first waterfall. The other lakes are 5 lakes on the eastern slope of Karagöl Mountain, Karanlık Lake on the northeastern skirt of Artabelinbaşı Hill, 4 lakes called Beşgöller on the west of Sofranınbaşı Hill, and 3 lakes called Karagöller on the eastern peak slope of Gavurdağı.

In the Eocene period, there are a total of 18 crater lakes in the field, including 1 lake northwest of Abdal Musa Hill in the north of the field, 1 unnamed lake southeast of Mezar Yayla, and 2 lakes in the northeast.

Artabel Lakes and its surroundings are very rich in terms of both geological and geomorphological features and flora and fauna, as well as having a high value in terms of landscape values.
