Imera (Olucak) Monastery

The Imera Monastery is within the borders of the central district Olucak Village and is 38 km away from the city center. The settlement, which is an archaeological site, can be reached from the İkisu Village, Karaca Cave junction towards Yağlıdere Village.

The monastery is one of the most solid structures that has survived to the present day. The inscription of the structure states that it was built in 1350. The monastery was built on a large area on the upper ridge of the village. The rectangular planned structure, its chapel and some structures have survived to the present day intact. The monastery, which is surrounded by walls, has been repaired many times. There are residential structures in the immediate vicinity of the monastery where priests stayed, and it is known that the Imera Monastery was an important religious center during its period of activity.
