Canca Castle

Canca Castle, which is 8 km from the city center, can be reached from the village of Vank and the valley called Kale Creek. Evliya Çelebi mentions this castle in his Seyahatname. It is among the rumors that when Trabzon was conquered by the Turks in 1461, the King's daughter committed suicide by taking refuge in this castle.

The castle, whose entrance is from the west, consists of three consecutive sections in the east-west direction. Its perimeter is reinforced with 1.5 m thick bastions.
